Administrative / Command Post Staff Member Position
The team is looking for administrative and command post non-field members to join our team. This position is NOT a pathway to becoming a field team member. Applicants for this position will not be considered for future field positions.
The Admin Team is an integral part of the Upper Ojai Search and Rescue Team, and a full member. Members in this role will be part of the team’s work in an administration role, and not deployed in the field in wilderness, rock faces, ATVs, etc.

duties:
• Perform command post administrative tasks during a SAR operation
• Perform radio communications during a SAR operation
• Use computer software for mapping, operations management, communications and SAR utilities
• Coordinate and maintain team administrative documents and communications
• Maintain the command post trailer
• Attend monthly team meetings and trainings
• Support the team at public relations events
• Perform other administrative tasks as needed
requirements:
• At least 21 years of age, and able to successfully pass a Sheriff’s Department background check
• Must be able to respond with the team to SAR operations in Ventura County and optionally respond with the team to multi-day mutual aid SAR operations throughout the state
• Must live in area between Ventura, Ojai and Santa Paula
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Must have a good knowledge of (and experience with) Microsoft Windows and Office (Word and Excel), Gmail and Google Docs and the ability to quickly learn new computer software
• Must have or will be provided first aid and CPR certification
• Must be able to work in a command post environment: sit for long time periods, multi-task
• Must be available for initial and ongoing training on Search and Rescue functions and SAR technology
desired additional qualifications:
• Excellent attention to detail
• Experience with Garmin GPS, D4H, inReach/Earthmate, Gaia, Dropbox, Avenza Maps, CalTopo/SARTopo and/or Connect Rocket a plus
• Physically able to perform basic command post duties such as hooking up trailers, moving tables, installing antennas
• Experience driving a full size pickup truck towing a trailer, and/or driving a full size pickup truck off-highway a plus
• Experience with website creation/maintenance a plus
• Experience managing laptops, printers, and networks a plus
