The Upper Ojai Alpine specialty team recently completed a training hike in the Los Padres Forest near the area of Mt. Pinos in Ventura County. The hike began in the parking lot of Mt Pinos covering the trail over to the summit. The the team hiked over to Sheep Campsite also via the trail. The team then practiced compass and map reading in limited light conditions in a heavy mist navigating cross-country west towards Apache Canyon and then south to Dry Canyon/Dome Springs. Below you will find some of the photos from the training. The team also demo'ed new GPS microphones. The team spent the night camping as part of the training.
